The donor-funded program helps first-generation college students learn and thrive at Iowa.

Get the most out of the weekend with this itinerary of things to see, do, and eat in the land of Hawkeyes.

Check out some of the creative social media posts that allowed Hawkeyes to win and donate extra funding during the University of Iowa's 24-hour online giving day. Hawkeyes from all 50 states, and across the globe, came together to give back and support students, faculty, research, health care, athletics, and more during One Day for Iowa, the University of Iowa's 24-hour online giving day. The goal of One Day for Iowa is to bring more Hawkeyes together each year to raise funds for areas across campus. This year, on March 30, more than 3,000 donors came together to support their passion at Iowa, collectively raising more than $1.5 million. Iowa alumni and friends were also encouraged to take advantage of donor-sponsored matching and unlocking opportunities, to climb the leaderboard, and to post to social media. In doing so, they helped release more than $300,000 in bonus money for their favorite areas on campus. The UI areas that received the most donations earned a spot on the leaderboard and shared a slice of $40,000 in extra funding. More than 100 colleges, departments, and divisions worked to raise money for their areas by connecting with their graduates and supporters through email and social media posts. We only need $38 to break $100,000! #HMBFamily--you're simply the best. #1DayForIowahttps://t.co/AMGMGpT8wi pic.twitter.com/W75kvJBesX?
